This Privacy Policy explains how Pennra (the "app"), our website at pennra.com, and related services (together, "Pennra," "we," "us," or "the service") handle your information. Pennra is operated by Julian Harmon ("we"). We built Pennra to help you manage your money, not to profit from your data. We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
This policy applies to the Pennra apps for iPhone and Android and to our website. By using Pennra, you agree to the practices described here.
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier so we can create your account and sync your data. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we only receive the relay address.
Financial information you enter. Pennra stores the budgeting data you choose to add, such as accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, recurring bills, income, savings goals, investment holdings, and net worth. This information is provided by you and is used solely to power the app's features and sync your data across your devices and, if you choose, with members of your household.
We do not connect to your bank, and we never ask for or store your bank login credentials, card numbers, or Social Security number.
Waitlist information (website). If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect the email address you submit so we can notify you about Pennra's launch. We use it only for that purpose and you can ask us to remove it at any time (see "Your choices" below).
Technical information. When you use the app or website, our infrastructure providers automatically process limited technical data, such as your IP address, device or browser type, and timestamps, to operate the service, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.
Legal bases (for users in the EEA and UK). We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the app and syncing your data); based on your consent (joining the waitlist, which you can withdraw at any time); for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working; and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make Pennra work, and only as needed for them to provide their service to us:
| Provider | Purpose | What it processes |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore) | Sign-in and secure storage/sync of your account and budgeting data; storage of waitlist emails | Account info, the budgeting data you enter, waitlist email |
| Apple (App Store) | Sign in with Apple and subscription billing on iOS | Account identifier, purchase/subscription status |
| Google (Play Store) | Sign in with Google and subscription billing on Android | Account identifier, purchase/subscription status |
| Finnhub | Current market prices for investments you track | Stock ticker symbols only (no personal or account information) |
| Logo.dev and icon providers | Display a merchant's logo next to a transaction | Merchant name or website domain only (no personal or account information) |
| Resend | Send waitlist and transactional emails | Email address and message content |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, delivery, and security | IP address and standard request data |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or Pennra.
Pennra's providers (including Google Firebase, Cloudflare, and Resend) store and process data on servers located in the United States and potentially other countries. If you use Pennra from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
We keep your account and budgeting data for as long as your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until Pennra launches or until you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first. When you delete your account (or your data), we remove your information from our active systems, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This permanently removes your budgeting data from our systems. For step-by-step instructions, or to request deletion if you can no longer access the app, see our Delete Your Account page. To be removed from the website waitlist, or for any other request, email us at the address below.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, update, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below; we will respond as required by applicable law. Most of your data can also be viewed, edited, or deleted directly in the app.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of that information, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The categories of information we collect are described in "Information we collect" above. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on it. The only information the website handles is the email address you choose to submit to the waitlist, plus the standard request data our host needs to serve the page securely.
Pennra Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple on iOS and by Google on Android through their respective app stores. Apple and Google handle all payment information; we never receive or store your payment card details. Subscription management and billing are governed by Apple's and Google's terms and privacy policies.
Your data is stored with Google Firebase and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account and any household you choose to share with. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Pennra is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice.
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory local data protection laws apply to you.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at pennra.support@pennra.com.
